“On Deck” film series to highlight COVID-19 and water quality

April 10, 2020

Hurricanes. Toxic blue-green algae blooms. Red tide. Herbicide spraying. And now, Coronavirus.

Guides in Florida and around the globe are being impacted by yet another disaster at the height of their season; the few months they rely on to provide for their families the rest of the year.

Captains For Clean Water launched “On Deck” — a short film series to share the stories of guides and businesses dealing with COVID-19 and reminding people about the importance of water quality.

Episode 1 features Fort Myers fishing guide, Captain Josh Constantine. Like many fishing guides, Capt. Josh—the “Caloosahatchee Cowboy”—relies on tarpon season to support his family year-round, but business has halted due to COVID-19 concerns. His message: “Even when this passes, we still have our water to worry about.”
