CHR is a workforce housing nonprofit for Sanibel & Captiva. Their residents have multiple needs, including help with rent assistance, food, and hotel costs. The CHR complexes held up well but did experience some damage related to drainage and elevators. You can donate here.
As the community foundation for Sanibel and Captiva, The Charitable Foundation of the Islands has activated this recovery fund after Charlie, Irma, Ian, and now Milton. They have already awarded $15,000 to CHR and FISH and will be working with the community to identify the remaining unmet needs and projects that promote long-term recovery and resiliency. After Ian, much of their grant making was focused on small business recovery in partnership with the SanCap Chamber.
