Longtime Sanibel Resident Brings Vast Budgeting, Public Policy Experience
Captains for Clean Water welcomes our newest Board member, long-time Sanibel resident Chauncey Goss, who takes on the role of Treasurer. Mr. Goss brings a wealth of practical experience, personal passion and governmental insight that will undoubtedly bear positive impact on the growth of this organization.
Mr. Goss is the founder and managing partner of Goss Practical Solutions, which provides federal fiscal policy analysis, budget forecasting, and geopolitical analysis. Prior to starting the firm, he served as Deputy Staff Director and Director of Budget Review for the House Budget Committee under Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan. Speaker Ryan credits Mr. Goss for much of the analytical underpinnings and quantitative analysis that are the foundation of his budgets.
Before serving on Capitol Hill, Mr. Goss worked for the Executive Office of the President in the Office of Management and Budget’s National Security Division where he was instrumental in ensuring the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community were properly resourced. Prior to that, he worked as a strategic planner under contract to the Air Force, Navy and Intelligence Community.
“We’re beyond excited to have Chauncey Goss on our board of directors,” said CFCW Co-Founder Daniel Andrews. “Chauncey has dedicated his life to public service and brings a lot to the table in the realm of nonprofit experience, budgeting, and public policy.”
On being named to the Board, Goss said “As a long-time resident of Southwest Florida, I first became involved with water quality issues when I worked as the Executive Director of the Gasparilla Island Conservation and Improvement Association on Boca Grande in the early 1990’s. The water resource issues are still pretty much the same some 25 years later and I have been impressed with Captains for Clean Water’s scientific facts-based approach to dealing with the harmful discharges and I am honored to be joining their Board of Directors.
Mr. Goss grew up on Sanibel Island and currently lives there with his wife and three sons. He is active in his community and serves as an elected member of the Sanibel City Council. He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Canterbury School in Ft. Myers. He serves on the boards of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation, and the United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Okeechobee Counties.
Mr. Goss received a BA from Rollins College and a Masters in Public Policy from Georgetown University. Andrews said he anticipates significant steps forward with this new addition.
“Organizations are only as good as the individuals that comprise them,” said CFCW President, Reid McKinstry. “Captains For Clean Waters has an ambitious set of goals that require capable and committed professionals contributing through their areas of expertise. This is why we are happy to welcome Mr. Chauncey Goss to our team.”
