2018 accountability report

Despite the 2018 water crisis, our supporters helped advance Everglades restoration efforts and press for solutions. Because of your generous support, we were able to increase our advocacy efforts, create educational programs, and raise awareness across our communities and elected officials. This is 2018 in review.

Supporters Took Action

Captains For Clean Water rallied citizens to contact their respective congressmen and senators.

In an effort to rally our supporters, we implemented a new call-to-action tool on our website in July 2018. This tool makes it easy for our supporters to write personalized emails to their elected officials asking them to support Everglades restoration during occasions when critical action is needed.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2019

It was a whirlwind year in Florida. We were devastated by one of the worst water crises we’ve seen in our lifetime. Water quality became the number one issue during the midterm election. Governor Ron DeSantis stepped into his new role with a bold vision for clean water. If we could sum up what this means for the year ahead: buckle up. We have more momentum than ever before. We’re seeing real change happening in Tallahassee and D.C. We have the power of our supporters behind us. And we’re just getting started. History is being written and we won’t stop until it ends with, “We saved the Everglades.

Thanks for a great year, let’s get to work!
